While it’s true that there isn’t much 4K content to watch right now, it’s pretty clearly becoming the standard for most mid-range TVs, and major channels like Netflix and YouTube have already started jumping on the trend.

It’s just as straightforward and platform-agnostic as previous iterations, but it’s a little bit faster, and it supports 4K streaming at up to 60 frames per second.Īmazon’s Fire TV and the Apple TV are great, too, but the former's 4K only goes up to a less smooth 30fps, and the latter doesn’t support Ultra HD at all. Vizio M series, starts at $628.99, available at Amazon. They’re tremendously expensive, especially considering they’re only 1080p and not particularly big, but using OLED tech allows them to have spectacular contrast and poppy (if a bit unrealistic) colors. On the other end, if money’s no object, the best picture quality you can get is in LG’s Curved OLED TVs. It’s our favorite budget TV at the moment. If you don’t have the space or want to save some cash, Vizio’s E series offers most of the same benefits for less. It also plays in 4K, which is a nice bonus, but only really necessary if you’re buying one of the larger models. User tracking concerns aside, it has superb contrast ratios, deep blacks, vibrant colors, and lots of size for the money. In most cases, the TV will be the centerpiece of any home theater setup, and Vizio’s M series finds the right balance between affordability and high-end picture quality.
